The push for legal marijuana is making steady progress in the United States. Although federal law remains unchanged, drastic reform has taken place at the state level.
37 states and D.C. have now passed measures to legalize or decriminalize marijuana, according to a recent count by the New York Times.
The vast majority of these states have passed some form of medical legislation, with more conservative bills permitting only cannabis with minimal levels of THC. So far, two states have legalized marijuana for recreational use.
