What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the major ingredients found in the cannabis plant. It is part of a larger class of chemicals called cannabinoids. Over 60 different cannabinoids are present in cannabis, but CBD and THC are present in the highest concentrations.
CBD was first isolated by researchers in 1940 but its structure was not identified until 23 years later.
Unlike THC, CBD does not activate pathways in the brain that cause a high. But CBD and THC have many of the same therapeutic properties. Because of this, some believe CBD holds more promise as a medicine.
