Independent studies conducted by the University of California at San Francisco, the University of New York at Albany, the University of Southern California and Leiden University have all concluded that when vaporizing, “there was virtually no exposure to harmful combustion products,” and that “it is possible to vaporize medically active compounds by heating to a temperature short of the point of combustion, thereby eliminating or substantially reducing harmful smoke toxins that are normally present in smoke.”

Since smoke is far hotter than vapor, and hot air is less dense than cool air, vapor contains much larger amounts of THC than smoke. Because smoke takes up more volume than vapor, it cannot match the density of vapor and will therefore contain less THC overall.
